2016 Domaine du Gros'Noré, Bandol
Provence, France
Predonimantly Mourvèdre (80% Mourvèdre, 15% Grenache, 5% Cinsault), this is a brooding, dark, savory wine, but "[d]o not be fooled by the strength and boldness of the Gros ‘Noré Bandol; underneath a big exterior is a wine of character, depth, complexity, soul, and finesse." -Kermit Lynch Wine Merchants Alain Pascal, a former boxer and avid hunter, carries on his father Honoré’s legacy at Domaine du Gros ‘Noré in Bandol, Provence. Initially selling his prized grapes to top wineries, he officially established his own domaine in 1997, producing bold, soulful wines with deep character. Farming 16 hectares with his brother Guy, he harnesses the region’s clay-limestone soils and Mediterranean climate to create intensely structured wines that have quickly earned him a reputation as a leading winemaker in Bandol.
