2018 Grongnet, Champagne Brut Special Club
2018 Grongnet, Champagne Brut Special Club
Champagne, France
Crafted by fifth-generation winemaker Cécile Grongnet in the village of Étoges, this exceptional cuvée blends 55% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay, exclusively from the 2018 vintage, and undergoes fermentation in both oak barrels and stainless steel tanks, with no malolactic fermentation, preserving its vibrant acidity. On the nose, it reveals expressive aromas of buttery brioche, grilled almonds, jasmine, and a hint of pear, leading to a palate that is full-bodied, rich, and textured, with flavors of apple compote, caramel, nougat, and a touch of citrus zest. The finish is long and savory, marked by a fine balance of acidity and sugar, and a subtle earthiness that reflects the unique terroir of the Côte des Blancs.
