2020 Rosanna Sandri, Barbaresco ‘Damasco’
Piedmont, Italy
Rosanna Sandri's Barbaresco 'Damasco’ is an elegant red wine produced in Treiso, Piedmont, Italy, exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes. The winery, a small family-run estate, cultivates its six hectares without pesticides or herbicides, emphasizing natural processes and sustainability. The name 'Damasco’ is inspired by the variety of rose that grows in the specific vineyard where the grapes are cultivated. The wine undergoes fermentation in large oak barrels, followed by 18 to 24 months of aging in the same vessels. This process results in a light yet structured Barbaresco, balancing fruit, acidity, oak, tobacco, and leather notes, complemented by firm tannins. It can be enjoyed young after decanting or aged for further complexity.
