2022 Domaine du Gros'Noré, Bandol Rosé
2022 Domaine du Gros'Noré, Bandol Rosé
Provence, France
This is not your "average" rosé. Although from a sub-region in Provence, Bandol rosé is one of the most prized and venerated styles, and typically requires a bit of age to hit its peak! These vines are an average of 30 years, destemmed grapes, vinified separately, fermented in steel, but then aged in large-neutral foudre for a year and a half. Alain Pascal, a former boxer and avid hunter, carries on his father Honoré’s legacy at Domaine du Gros ‘Noré in Bandol, Provence. Initially selling his prized grapes to top wineries, he officially established his own domaine in 1997, producing bold, soulful wines with deep character. Farming 16 hectares with his brother Guy, he harnesses the region’s clay-limestone soils and Mediterranean climate to create intensely structured wines that have quickly earned him a reputation as a leading winemaker in Bandol.
