2023 Veyder-Malberg, Gruner Veltiner 'Viessling'

Peter Veyder-Malberg takes an independent approach to winemaking in Austria’s Wachau Valley, crafting expressive wines that capture the character of their vineyards. Working organically in this dramatic landscape, he focuses on freshness, precision, and letting the land speak for itself. The ‘Viessling’ Grüner Veltliner comes from hillside vineyards with calcareous loess and ancient rock soils, bringing both freshness and a distinct mineral character to the wine. Bright and lively, it opens with green apple, citrus, and ripe pear, followed by white pepper, fresh herbs, and a subtle stony note. Elegant and beautifully balanced, with vibrant acidity and a crisp, lingering finish, this is a wonderful expression of Grüner Veltliner from one of Austria’s most distinctive producers.
