2025 Terres Dorees Beaujolais Nouveau L'Ancien
2025 Terres Dorees Beaujolais Nouveau L'Ancien
Burgundy, France
This popular and high-quality Beaujolais Nouveau is made by Jean-Paul Brun of Terres Dorées, a producer who has championed a traditional, less-interventionist style in the region since 1977. Brun famously goes against the grain by using old-school Burgundian winemaking—meaning he avoids the rapid carbonic maceration and commercial yeasts that give most Nouveau its 'banana' or 'candy' flavor. This wine is crafted from the producer's oldest Gamay vines (hence 'L'Ancien') which are organically farmed, resulting in more concentrated fruit. The taste is incredibly fresh and juicy, bursting with ripe cherry, wild berry, and a touch of earth, with a lively, "glou-glou" (easy-to-drink) texture and a surprisingly structured, clean finish.
