Cihuatán Distillery 'Cinabrio' 12 Year Rum
Cihuatán Distillery 'Cinabrio' 12 Year Rum
Cihuatán Valley, El Salvador
Cihuatán is El Salvador's first and so far only distillery, and each rum they make is dedicated to a specific Mayan deity that contributes their blessings to the art and flavor of rum. The 12 year old Cinabrio (named for its red color, because the Mayans used cinnabar as a pigment) is aged in American oak ex-bourbon barrels, and is dedicated to Kinich Ahau, god of the sun. The nose is an enticing blend of cinnamon bun, molasses, maple, and a little menthol herbaceousness. On the palate it's very creamy with tropical fruit and a chocolate orange finish.
