Giulio Cocchi, Americano Aperitivo
Giulio Cocchi, Americano Aperitivo
Piedmont, Italy
Cocchi Americano is an aromatized wine first created in 1891 by Giulio Cocchi and has been produced continuously using the original recipe. The name “Americano” comes from both the Italian word “amaricato,” meaning bittered with herbs and spices, and the American tradition of drinking vermouth with ice and soda. Recognized as the signature aperitif of Asti, it features a historic label with a futurist rooster symbolizing its appetite-awakening qualities. Made by infusing white wine with a blend of botanicals such as gentian, Artemisia, Cinchona, and bitter orange peel, it bridges the gap between wine and liquors. The wine undergoes cold infusion and refinement to achieve a balanced and aromatic flavor profile.
