NV Henriques and Henriques, 15 Years Old Malvasia Madeira

Malvasia, also known as Malvazia and Malmsey, is a celebrated grape variety from the island and the "sweetest", but not cloying. H&H’s age-statement varietal wines are considered benchmarks, always 100% Malvasia with blends exceeding the 15-year requirement. It pairs well with roasted nuts, blue-veined cheeses, crème caramel, brûlée, tarte tatin, and coffee-accented desserts. The history of Henriques & Henriques is deeply intertwined with the history of Madeira wine itself. Founded in 1850 by João Joaquim Gonçalves Henriques, the firm began as a partidista, supplying wine to merchants while building an extensive stock of old vintages. In 1925, H&H became unique among producers by bottling and exporting Madeira exclusively from their own vineyards. Today, under CEO and winemaker Humberto Jardim, the company remains a leader in vineyard preservation and the cultivation of noble Madeira grape varieties. Their age-statement varietal wines are considered benchmarks, always made with stocks exceeding the required aging minimums.
